A prominent figure in the community and profession, Paul has been serving his clients, community and professional association for more than 35 years.
Volunteer activities involving the accounting profession have been quite extensive. Paul has served on the CGA Ontario Chatham-Kent Chapter Board of Directors, was an elected member of the CGA Ontario Board of governors for 10 years serving on numerous committees at both the provincial and national level of the Association. The Association has recognized Paul’s activities by various awards. In 1990, he received the CGA Ontario Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his contribution to the accounting profession. In 1994, he was elected as a Life Member in recognition of distinguished service to the Association. In 1997, CGA Canada awarded the Fellowship Designation (FCGA) for rendering outstanding service to the Association and the accounting profession.
Volunteer activities include the local community. Over the years Paul has been involved in minor league sports such as Wallaceburg Minor Hockey and Baseball. Involvement with service clubs includes the Dresden Sertoma Club and the Wallaceburg Jaycees. As a founding member of the Sertoma Club [Serve to Mankind] and treasurer in Dresden, Paul received the Sertoman of the Year Award.
Paul is also a frequent seminar presenter for the Certified General Accountants Association of Ontario. In this capacity, Paul developed and presented two days of the Ontario Orientation to Public Practice Program that every CGA must complete as part of the entry to public practice requirements. Services to the Association also include performing practice inspections of CGA firms for many years. Preferred areas of practice include accounting and consulting to small and medium size enterprises, succession planning, alternate dispute resolution (ADR) and litigation support.
Other professional memberships have included the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (Associate Member), National Society of Public Accountants (USA), Certified Public Accountants (USA) as an International Affiliated, Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators
While attending the University of Guelph, Ridgetown campus, Paul received the W.G. Thompson general proficiency award in two years and graduated with an Honours Diploma.
