For me, community is at the centre of everything.

I have the privilege of serving members of the Chinese community I belong to, and as part of that service, I co-authored Canadian Taxation in Chinese which has given me my share of media exposure.

I volunteer much of my time supporting community-based non-profit organizations, including Treasurer of the Markham-Unionville PLA and SYSU Toronto Association. And then there is my business school and accounting alumnae community.

And, of course, there is the growing community of 10,000+ corporate and individual clients serviced locally and regionally by the network of Turner Moore accounting partners I joined forces with in 2007. Good times.

Finally, there’s the community of “frienemies” I spend time with on the golf course.

So despite what you might think about accountants, I am never lonely.

In some ways, choosing an accountant is a bit like shopping for a golf launch monitor. You can go the budget route and try to perfect your swing in an oversized box with a screen or some basic pointers OR you can get the one that everyone at the pro shop lines up to use and go big with an experience that will transform your game.
