Grant and Loan Programs for Ontario Businesses

Protect Ontario Financing Program
A new initiative was launched by the Government of Ontario to support businesses impacted by U.S. Section 232 tariffs on steel, aluminum, and automotive products.
This program provides eligible Ontario businesses with term loans starting at $250,000 to help manage critical working capital needs, such as payroll, lease obligations, and utility expenses.
Eligibility Requirements:
To qualify, businesses must:
- Be a for-profit entity legally registered and actively operating in Ontario.
- Operate within the steel, aluminum, or automotive sectors directly affected by Section 232 tariffs.
- Generate at least $2M in annual revenue and employ 10 or more full-time staff in Ontario.
- Have been in operation for at least 3 years with available financial statements.
- Be experiencing serious tariff-related working capital challenges.
- Have explored and exhausted or faced barriers in accessing federal financial support options.
Funding Details:
- Minimum loan: $250,000
- Repayable up to 72 months (6 years) with no penalty for prepayment.
- Annual repayment frequency.
- Applicants must demonstrate repayment ability and provide satisfactory security.
This program is designed to provide immediate relief to businesses facing tariff-related disruptions, helping stabilize operations and protect jobs.

Racialized and Indigenous Supports for Entrepreneurs (RAISE) program
The government is protecting workers and small businesses by investing $5 million to provide free business development training, coaching, networking support and a $10,000 grant to racialized, Black and Indigenous entrepreneurs.
The 2025-26 RAISE program will help more than 400 entrepreneurs get the resources they need to transform innovative ideas into successful businesses, creating local jobs and long-term economic growth.
The deadline to apply is October 1, 2025.
The RAISE grant program provides online business development training, culturally responsive and tailored business coaching, networking supports and a one-time grant of $10,000.
