Notice Regarding CRA Issues With Slips

You may or may not be aware, but CRA has had a lot of issues this year with slips.

Many still aren’t uploaded to their portal, so we have been processing what you have brought in and what we can download. We are making our best efforts to ensure that what we have compares to last year, but there may be slips coming after your return has been filed.

It is important to self-disclose any slips you receive after filing your tax return that weren’t originally included. CRA’s matching program will eventually detect them and adjust your return, but this is considered an omission. You’re only allowed a limited number of these, and repeated omissions may lead to penalties—either for this instance if you’ve had previous omissions, or for future ones.

You have three options to add information to your return after it has been filed:

  1. Let CRA correct it – see above.
  2. Log in and change your return to include the missing slip – Change my return: online adjustments for income tax and benefits returns – Canada.ca
  3. Engage your local Turner Moore office to do the change for you.
